DIVORCE  & RELATION IN THE  FAMILY

Please excuse us for the bad quality of this automatic translation which is being corrected for better comprehension

There is no doubt that like numbers researchers at the time, it does not spend any more time in its laboratory but in its house. Jeanne and Henri Arthur should not see the Doctor tous.les.jours. Science is without any doubt more important than the family. That would explain to some extent the divorce as fast as exceptional at that time. It is marked the 31/12/1913. Mention of divorce "passed in force of thing judged" (nonlikely of call) figure on the sale contract of the parental building, the hand of the notary.

Except these dates which the marital status delivers to us, we do not have an explanation on its family life and marital. Few information on the first and a failure for the second, it is obvious. Current research updated any correspondence  neither with his/her son and his ex-wife, neither with her colleagues, nor with the neighbors of Paris, Bridge-with-Monsoon and Algiers. It would have however corresponded with a friend, cousin moved away in addition, Domenica SENN, wire of the Vice-chancellor, but the research undertaken in this direction did not bring anything to date.

A great nephew, Robert MAILLARD, (grandson of Roger, the brother of Louis Camille), us gave two letters of 1935 and 1936 addressed to his Raymond father. One discovers there a direction of completely remarkable humour at Louis Camille. The man was without any doubt a pleasant companion!

Robert MAILLARD has two family trees of the family establish by his grandfather around the 1era world war. On one, the name of Henri, wire of Louis Camille, was initially registered then scraped. On the second, Henri is not reproduced even any more. What did it thus occur so that Henri is thus disavowed and éradiqué? Do physical confidences, characteristics (colors of the eyes, skin, hair) or obvious resemblances alert Louis Camille and his family? We point out that our doctor is a biologist! Is it necessary to bind here the reasons of the marriage and the causes of the divorce?

Forced marriage, preconceived child, denial of paternity, bulimia of work, rare presence to the hearth, dispute family: as many reasons but whatever is the reason, the marriage is broken. Felt and lived like a cooking failure, our hero saw his divorce like a Greek tragedy. Its engagement precipitated in the war as its departure for Algeria resemble ahead saving escapes extremely. The distance is necessary to the lapse of memory!

Tours, August 27, 1935

My dear Raymond

Your parents whom I saw on their premises a few days ago, indeed announced your next marriage to me and pleasantly invited me to the ceremony of September 24.

Unfortunately I am, this year, very constrained by a whole series of uncertainties which do not allow me any project, even in the short term. I do not even know if I will be still in France at the date indicated; administrative compressions and rehandlings to which one book are risked to have repercussions which could oblige to me to rather take again my service in hands than of habit!

Under these conditions I then of allowing me to accept no go, especially to sign with an instrument. I thus need, with regret, to ask you to excuse me near your been engaged and to excuse me yourself if I then to carry you in person all my v?ux.

It is not by insufficiency of sympathy, believe the good, and I would like that you allow me to express you my feelings avunculaires by a small memory. I do not know if the fashion is always with the wedding presents and if the young husbands are, like formerly, overpowered under the burden of fourteen half-dozens of oyster forks and seventeen fish slices.

In all cases I do not want to make myself guilty of the eighteenth trowel; I préfèrerais that you choose yourself something which is according to your tastes and which finds its place effective in your small bowel. I thus put under this envelope a simple cheque which you will be able to touch without formality with the Crédit Lyonnais. Go ahead as soon as possible, 19 data base of the Italians.

By renewing you my regrets to be able to carry you myself my up to date v?ux fixed I remain sincerely yours

My dear Raymond

By thanking you for your pleasant v?ux for 1936, please present at your young woman my best thanks for the wishes than she wants to instruct you well to transmit to me.

Request to accept the most sincere v?ux that the old uncle forms for your happiness.

I deeply regretted, you know it, to be able to be free of my movements in good time to personally carry you these v?ux to Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre *. the same week, I missed two marriages to which I would have made a point of assisting: the tien, and that of a former preparer of Verdun, then young chemical engineer extremely distinguished and provided with the high rank with soldier with 2éme class, which I had believed to be able to treat as an intelligent man; pushing even the munificence until let us galons of corporal.

Twenty years afterwards, it had still preserved a so tough resentment, which it claimed, in extremely touching terms, to be able to happen from its commander in this memorable day.

I hope to have more chance this year, and to make the knowledge of my charming niece, of which I intend to sing the praises, on the dithyrambic mode, by all people of the family which you went to see in Lorraine with the last autumn.

When I am in Paris, I will not fail to go to admire the installation of your young couple. Thank well, for me, your wife of her so cordial invitation. But it goes without saying I will not allow myself to be for you the cause of the least disturbance. Thank you still.

Carry well, happy lucky devil and does not forget to present at your charming wife the very affectionate wishes of the old uncle.
